Dear activists organizing "Holi against Hindutva,"

Hindus for Human Rights applauds your creative use of Holi to subvert the bigoted and anti-Hindu agenda of the RSS-BJP-VHP combine. Their claims to be for a Hindu civilization have been shown to be a-dharmic through their repeated use of violence against defenseless populations, the passage of divisive legislation, and the creation of existential dread among religious minorities. At this time, all genuine Hindus have to stand up and say "not in my name". 

Your use of Holi is a very apposite response to the dour, violent, and monomaniacal tendencies on the Hindu right, which we have seen on full display during the past week in Delhi.

Hinduism has always been diverse, pluralistic, life-affirming and open to debate and inquiry. Holi is a festival par excellence where carnivalesque reversals and challenges to authority are combined with the freshness of spring and the celebration of colors. It is a festival of breaking norms, of creating joyous realities, and claiming a future of life, love, fun and abundance. 

We applaud your creative approach and encourage the youthful energy that will create the joyous future that we all wish.
