HfHR Australia screens the film, a Billion Colour Story

HfHR Australia screened the film, a Billion Colour Story at the Art and Culture Exchange in Sydney on The 30th of November as our end-of-year event for allies and friends. The film was well received and we had a wonderful online interaction with the film’s director Padmakumar N after. Guests included Senator David Shoebridge and his wife Patricia, Former Senator Lee Rhiannon, Councillor Indu Balachandran, head of Turbans 4 Australia, Amar Singh, head of Muslim Collective, Iqbal Barkat, head, WICCI, Abbas Raza Alvi, Manbir Kohli from Kehte Sunte Radio, Tamanna from Human Rights Watch, Taufeeq Ahmed from Crossover Stories, our friends and allies Arjun Nidigallu, Malini and Deborah among others.

The film follows the journey of a young and idealistic interfaith couple and their child in Mumbai and is a poetic and nuanced exploration of the grim reality and consequence of religious intolerance, as well as an ode to the spaces in which hope still flowers. In the coming years we look forward to taking the film to larger audiences, and foster conversations around identity, faith and community as relevant to the diverse Indian diaspora in Australia.
