Hinduism Around the World

Hinduism has spread far beyond the Indian subcontinent, with significant diaspora communities in countries around the world. These communities have contributed to the global influence of Hinduism, bringing its teachings and practices to new audiences and contexts. HfHR values the contributions of the Hindu diaspora and seeks to promote a vision of Hinduism that is inclusive, egalitarian, and committed to the welfare of all beings.

Spread of Hinduism Outside India

Hinduism has spread to many parts of the world through trade, migration, indentureship, and the efforts of religious teachers and leaders. Today, there are significant Hindu communities in countries like Nepal, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Indonesia, Malaysia, and the Caribbean, as well as in the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, and Australia. These communities have established temples, schools, and cultural organizations that promote Hindu teachings and practices and contribute to the global influence of Hinduism.
