Hindus for Human Rights Responds to Rutgers University Decision on Caste Discrimination |
Hindus for Human Rights strongly supported the University Task Force’s recommendation that Rutgers add caste as a protected category. To this end, we launched an email campaign urging senior administration officials to adopt caste protections, because we know that the absence of such a policy creates an additional and unnecessary barrier for individuals who face caste discrimination to report their experiences and seek justice and accountability.
While we're disappointed in the administration’s failure to adopt this much-needed civil rights policy, we are glad to see the university explicitly acknowledge for the first time that caste discrimination is prohibited at Rutgers, and we hope that the administration will make good on their promise to clearly communicate the fact that caste is covered under existing anti-discrimination policies to the campus community. |

Call Upon President Biden to Pardon Ravi Ragbir! |
Ravi Ragbir is a 60-year-old husband, father, and nationally recognized leader in the immigrant rights movement.
During the Trump administration, Ravi’s outspoken advocacy for immigrant rights made him a target. In January 2018, ICE officials in New York arrested Ravi and another leader of the New Sanctuary Coalition for deportation. These actions came during a period when many prominent immigrant rights activists were suddenly being targeted by federal immigration officials. Community allies—including 31 members of Congress and more than 1,800 community organizations and individuals—spoke out against ICE’s targeting of Ravi.
A pardon is the only real and permanent protection from deportation under the incoming second Trump administration. We are urging President Biden to grant Ravi's pardon before he leaves office.
We humbly ask that you please take a few moments to sign and circulate the petition supporting Ravi Ragbir's pardon. We only have until January 20th to urge President Biden for a pardon before Trump's administration deports Ragbir. |

The Maha Kumbh Mela, in Prayagraj —formerly Allahabad — reflects both the huge sweep of Hindu tradition and the shifting, identitarian political narratives shaping modern India. Cutting-edge technology like radio-frequency wristbands, AI chatbots, and navigation apps is enhancing the experience for over 400 million attendees. All against a backdrop of growing polarization, contested identities and exclusions. As it unfolds, it will offer fascinating insights into India’s intersection of faith, innovation, and politics.
