HfHR Writes to the CM of Gujarat on his Recent Comments on Hindu Rashtra
The Chief Minister of Gujarat, Shri Vijay Rupani, recently said: "While Muslims can choose any one of the 150 Islamic countries in the world (for residence), India is the only country for the Hindus.” HfHR wrote to the Chief Minister yesterday reminding him that over 119 countries of the world have welcomed Indians of all faiths — not just Hindus — to make their countries their homes; and that India’s own history is one of welcoming persecuted peoples from all over the world, regardless of their faith.
The new slogan by the BJP appears to be a clumsy attempt to emulate the call for a Jewish homeland following World War II; however, we must remember that that call resonated with the world because of the long history of Jewish persecution, leading to the Holocaust. To borrow such a Zionist slogan to apply to Hindus, who are today living comfortably in more than half the world, is a travesty — which the people of India are pushing back through their unprecedented nation-wide resistance to CAA/NRC/NPR.
