Hindu Muslim Harmony Fellows Showcase Their Journey
This past weekend at the Judson Memorial Church was a vibrant testament to the power of dialogue, diversity, and determination. The Hindu Muslim Harmony Fellowship made possible through a generous grant from the Arthur Vining Davis Foundation, presented an exhilarating recap of the fellows' activities over the past year. The event, titled "The Art of Creating an Interfaith Campus," was an increasingly inspiring afternoon as the breadth and ambition of the fellows work on their campuses grew and built on the experiences shared in a year of immense challenge to work on interfaith harmony and understanding.
Each pair of fellows shared their unique experiences, showcasing how they've championed the cause of interfaith dialogue. The narrative of their year was painted with broad and impactful strokes – from the exuberant Qawwali nights that drew crowds beyond expectations to their courageous stand during the Columbia Protests over Gaza where interfaith work was at the center of the national conversation — so many different roads in the fellows work, all of which highlighted their commitment to human rights and justice.
The Arc of the Fellowship
Their activism took many forms, community building, institution transformation, artistic expereinces and over and over creating unique spaces for dialogue and. Each pair of fellow's presentation was a glimpse into the soul of their mission — and the generosity, humor and hard work they put into a year of thoughtful, incisive, expansive, and undeniably important work. Marked by critical discussions that not only challenged norms but also built bridges of understanding across previously seemingly impassable divides.
Unwinding and Uniting
After an intense day of presentations and discussions, the fellows, along with guests, transitioned from the formal setting of Judson Memorial Church to a more intimate gathering. Our Executive Director opened their home for a meal and a debrief, providing a space for reflection and relaxation. It was an evening where conversations continued to flow, and connections deepened.
HfHR will be sharing event more about fellowship's work, its ongoing projects, and its aspirations for the future in the coming weeks. The fellowship's journey thus far has been a beacon of hope and a call to action for all those who believe in the power of interfaith collaboration.
