Prayers for Peace in Palestine: A Global Call for Compassion

On this December 25th we mark Christmas Day and the first day of Hanukkah and Manusmriti Dahan Divas so it not only time of hope and reflection, but also a day to call for dismantling unjust systems and an end to violence.

Today Hindus for Human Rights (HfHR) shares a heartfelt message of solidarity and peace for the people of Palestine. In the face of unimaginable suffering, we join voices from around the globe to offer prayers that transcend borders, religions, and traditions, calling for justice and compassion to guide our collective journey toward peace.

Across the world, HfHR supporters, board members, allies, and friends have come together in a unique initiative—a collection of prayers and reflections rooted in diverse spiritual traditions. These prayers, shared in a special video, remind us that peace is not merely the absence of conflict but the presence of justice, equity, and compassion.

One contributor reflects on the timeless wisdom of the Bhagavata Purana:

"May there be good fortune throughout the universe, and may all envious persons be pacified. May all living entities become calm by practicing yoga."

This ancient prayer—as relevant today as it was centuries ago—invites us to think of each other’s welfare, to pacify the forces of envy and division, and to build a world where peace flourishes universally.

Voices of Solidarity

The prayers shared in our video resonate with this spirit of interconnectedness and hope:

  • A father’s wish for peace: Reflecting on how peace cannot be wrapped and placed under a tree but must be nurtured in our hearts and communities.

  • A mother’s cry for justice: Lifting up the suffering of children in Palestine and Sudan, she reminds us that this suffering stems not from natural disasters but from human choices—choices that must change.

  • A devotee’s prayer to Lord Krishna: Dreaming of a day when the pain of Palestine is lifted, and every child can rise and shine in freedom and joy.

  • A devotee of Kali’s call for courage: Drawing strength from the righteous fight against injustice, this prayer honors the resilience of the Palestinian people and their long struggle for justice.

  • The eternal Shanti Path: Inviting us to envision peace everywhere—in the heavens, the earth, the waters, and within ourselves.

These reflections challenge us to see peace not as an abstract ideal but as a living, breathing commitment. They remind us that prayer is not a substitute for action but a source of inspiration, moving our hearts toward compassion and justice.

A Collective Commitment

As we mark the end of a tumultuous year, we stand in solidarity with the people of Palestine, offering not only our prayers but also our determination to act. Let this day remind us that peace is possible when we work together to challenge oppression, amplify marginalized voices, and build bridges of understanding.

HfHR invites you to watch our video of global prayers for Palestine and join us in this collective call for peace. Together, let us turn our reflections into actions, standing as a global family united in the pursuit of justice and compassion.

We leave you with this timeless hope:

"And to heaven be peace, and to the sky and the earth be peace. Peace be upon the waters, the herbs, and the trees. And may we realize that peace."

On this day, let us renew our commitment to a just and compassionate world. May our prayers inspire hope, healing, and the courage to envision a future where peace prevails for all.
