Statement on the Desecration of Bharatiya Vidya Abhyas Mandali Temple

As a Hindu organization committed to human rights, with roots and connections within the Indo-Caribbean community, we at Hindus for Human Rights are profoundly disturbed by the desecration of the Bharatiya Vidya Abhyas Mandali temple in Curepe, Trinidad and Tobago. The deliberate and violent destruction of six murtis, sacred representations of our spiritual beliefs, is an unacceptable assault on religious harmony and mutual respect.

This act of vandalism transcends mere physical damage; it is an affront to the principles of tolerance and coexistence that we, as a community hold dear. We believe in a world where all religious communities can thrive without fear of persecution or disrespect.

In response to this hateful act, we stand in firm solidarity with the devotees of the Bharatiya Vidya Abhyas Mandali temple. We urge the local authorities and the St. Joseph Police and Criminal Investigation Department to conduct a thorough investigation and ensure that the perpetrators are held accountable.

We must collectively condemn and challenge any act of hatred and intolerance. Let us continue to advocate for a world that honors and protects the sanctity of all places of worship and upholds our shared values of diversity and peace.
