WELCOMING BACK NYC'S LONGEST RUNNING QUEER DESI PARTY

HINDUS FOR HUMAN RIGHTS & MUSLIMS FOR PROGRESSIVE VALUES EXTEND CONGRATULATIONS TO SHOLAY EVENTS

After a long pandemic inflected break the folks at Sholay are back with music and Pride for 2023!!

Hindus for Human Rights and Muslims for Progressive Values extend our warmest congratulations to Sholay Events on your return to organizing after a three-year hiatus! As fellow advocates for human rights, social justice, and inclusivity, we are delighted to see you re-emerge just in time to celebrate Pride in NYC.

We commend your resilience, dedication, and unwavering commitment to creating a space where diverse communities can come together, embrace their identities, and express themselves freely. Your unwavering support for and building of the Queer-Desi community is truly inspiring. Since your founding in 2001, Sholay Events has provided a safe and celebratory haven for LGBTQI+ South Asians through organizing gatherings at venues across New York City and partnering with progressive organizations, museums, and cultural institutions to increase Queer-Desi visibility.

We understand that the past three years have been challenging for all of us, marked by personal loss, caregiving, and self-reflection in the midst of increased polarization and rising nationalism. The pandemic has had a profound impact on our lives, and it is through patience, support, and understanding that we have navigated these trying times.

Now, as we emerge stronger and more united, it is a moment to celebrate friendship, love, connection, and queerness in its multitude of shapes and forms. This year’s Pride festivities will be unlike any other, as we collectively rise, roar, and revel in the spirit of acceptance, equality, and diversity. Together, let us create a safe and inclusive space where everyone can be their authentic selves without fear or judgment.

We would like to express our deepest gratitude for your unwavering dedication to fostering an environment that embraces the intersectionality of identities and promotes love and understanding. Your efforts truly make a difference in the lives of countless individuals.

Congratulations once again on your return, and may this Pride month be a resounding success filled with love, solidarity, and celebration. We stand beside you, ready to support and uplift the Queer-Desi community.
