Satya Dharma Samvad Honors Amir Khusro: A Visit Rooted in Ganga-Jamuni Harmony
Honoring the Ganga-Jamuni Legacy: A Journey of Unity at the 721st Urs of Hazrat Amir Khusro
In an era where divisive narratives often overshadow our shared histories, the 721st Urs of Hazrat Amir Khusro, celebrated from April 15 to 19, 2025, at the Dargah Hazrat Nizamuddin in Delhi, stood as a beacon of unity and cultural harmony. This sacred commemoration attracted devotees from diverse backgrounds, all converging to honor the legacy of a poet and mystic who epitomized the syncretic Ganga-Jamuni Tehzeeb—a confluence of Hindu and Muslim traditions that has enriched the Indian subcontinent for centuries.
Among the attendees were Sant Shri Raghavendra Ji Maharaj, founder of Satya Dharma Samvad (SDS), and members of Khudai Khidmatgar, including leaders like Kripal Singh Mandloi and Rizwan Khan. Their presence underscored a collective commitment to preserving and promoting the values of love, compassion, and mutual respect that Hazrat Amir Khusro so eloquently championed. The delegation offered a chadar at the dargah, symbolizing their reverence and dedication to interfaith solidarity.
The event also featured heartfelt discussions between Swami Raghavendra Ji Maharaj and the dargah's caretakers, Sayed Bilal Nizami and Sayed Khalid Nizami. Over tea and shared reflections, they emphasized the dargah's role as a center of composite culture and extended an invitation to Swamiji for the upcoming Basant Panchami celebrations, further cementing bonds across faiths.
Press Statement from Swami Raghavendra Ji Maharaj and Satya Dharma Samvad:
"We should not let go of even the smallest opportunity to showcase, participate, and promote Ganga-Jamuni culture, love, harmony, and shared heritage. This is the biggest demand of this time. In view of the necessity of such initiatives, Satya Dharma Samvad and the Delhi Unit of Khudai Khidmatgar visited the dargah on the occasion of the 721st Urs of Hazrat Khawaja Amir Khusro."
"Hazrat Amir Khusro is a pillar of our Hindustani Riwayat, an identity whose fragrance reaches every heart and knocks on doors easily. A flag bearer of Ganga-Jamuni Tehzeeb, he believed that love is the basic foundation of religion."
"Today, when there are deliberate attempts to destroy or hide the love and Ganga-Jamuni heritage and create false questions around it, it becomes our responsibility not to miss any opportunity to showcase love and Ganga-Jamuni culture. Perhaps the necessity of this was never felt more than in the present times."
"It is said that there is blessing in action, which means if you do something, it will have an impact. Nothing much will be achieved by mere words about love and brotherhood unless we walk the talk."
"On this occasion, I said that this visit is to pay respect to the flag bearer of Ganga-Jamuni heritage. We need to think about how Amir Khusro colored the world with the beauty of love and compassion. We need to know how he reached common people and touched their hearts. Unless we understand this, we can never understand the color of Amir Khusro."
"खुसरो पाती प्रेम की बिरला बाँचे कोय ! वेद, कुरान, पोथी पढ़े, प्रेम बिना का होय।"
Meaning: Reading of scriptures is useless until our heart does not have love and compassion for all living beings.
"We should not let go of even the smallest opportunity to showcase, participate, and promote Ganga-Jamuni culture, love, harmony, and shared heritage. This is the biggest demand of this time."
