(April 7, 2025) In a heartwarming show of unity, Oregon’s South Asian communities are coming together this spring to celebrate UgadiEidSter — an interfaith, intercultural festival that blends the spirit of Ugadi, Eid, and Easter into one joyful gathering. The event will take place on Sunday, April 13th, 2025, from 4:00–7:00 PM at the Baha’i Center in Beaverton (5355 SW Murray Blvd).
Organized in partnership with a mosque, a church, a temple, and several civil society organizations, UgadiEidSter promises an evening of community, celebration, and cultural exchange. With music, performances, kids’ activities, and delicious food, this event is free and open to all.
“We wanted to create something that reflects the beauty of South Asia’s diversity — not just of faiths, but of stories, traditions, and springtime renewal,” said Sravya Tadepalli of HfHR, one of the event organizers. “In a time where hate and polarization are increasing, including within the South Asian community, UgadiEidSter is our joyful response to a world where we all share so much in common.”
Event partners include:
Bilal Masjid Beaverton Oregon, Sri Mukambika Mahadeva Hindu Shrine, India International Church, The Immigrant Story, Afghan Support Network, Hyderabad Hub, Oregon DesiFest, Afghan & Indian Cuisine, and Hindus for Human Rights.
The event coincides with the spring holidays of Ugadi (the Hindu lunar New Year in parts of South India), Eid al-Fitr (marking the end of Ramadan), and Easter (celebrating renewal and resurrection in Christianity), making it a perfect occasion to honor rebirth, solidarity, and the promise of a new season.
